How SpokenBuzz Call Buttons Work
You can put a widget on your page or use one on someone else's page to make a call between your number and another phone number. SpokenBuzz calls the first number, asks you to enter the 1-digit access-code that is generated and shown on the web-page/widget and after you enter that number on the telephone keypad, calls the second number. That's it.
There are two different ways in which you can use SpokenBuzz widgets.
- Open Widget On these widgets, the end-user can enter both the origination and destination numbers. Use this on your site, blog, or email signature as a fun free feature to distribute to your friends and blog readers. You can also place it on your desktop to initiate calls at any time directly from your computer. If the person calling already has a SpokenBuzz account, that account's Buzz Points are used and credited for the call, otherwise an account is automatically created and free Buzz Points are added to it to get them started.
- Call Me Widget These widgets are configured so the person (Widget Owner) who has distributed the widget on their site, blog, or email can receive calls from others that click on the widget. You must put your telephone number or SpokenBuzz ID into the widget to enable this feature. The widget seen by others only has 1 field that needs to be filled in. The person clicking on the widget enters their telephone number to get a call from SpokenBuzz. Once they key in the access code provided on the same page, the call is connected to the Call Me Widget owner's telephone. The Widget Owner can keep their number private by configuring the widget with their SpokenBuzz ID instead of their real telephone number.
Why use access codes?
When anyone initiates a call over the web, a 1-digit code is displayed on their screen. This code must be entered on their telephone keypad when they pick up their telephone. We do this to avoid pranksters from using this interface to set up calls between 2 parties without either party having initiated the call. It's a bit of a hassle, but its needed.
Buzz Points
You don't need cash, you just need some Buzz Points to make calls using the web interface. And we keep giving those to you.
To start with, you get 30 Buzz Points (bp) that you can use to make your first few calls. Domestic U.S. calls cost 4 bp/minute. The neat thing, though, is that we continue to add more bp to your account every time you make a call using the web interface. So, the more calls you make, the more Buzz Points you get. Currently, we add 10 bp to your account for every phone call you make.
So go ahead, talk it up, you will probably have enough bp to keep making phone calls forever.
We will soon be adding a whole bunch of ways for you to add bp to your account. So come back, login to your account and look around. There are probably more Buzz Points waiting for you in there.
